Men’s Health Week

International Men’s Health Week (MHW) always begins on the Monday before Father’s Day and ends on Father’s Day itself.  During 2024, it ran from Monday 10th until Sunday 16th June.

Laois Sports Partnership are committed to celebrating this week and putting on a host of events that embody the ethos of MHW.

MHW is celebrated in many European countries, as well as in the USA, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and a number of other places worldwide. 

The overall aims of the Men's Health Week are to:

  • Heighten awareness of preventable health problems for males of all ages.
  • Support men and boys to engage in healthier lifestyle choices / activities.
  • Encourage the early detection and treatment of health difficulties in males.

Each year, there is also a specific theme. During 2024, the theme for the island of Ireland was ‘Know Your Numbers’ and the key message to everyone was men’s health counts.

To celebrate International Men’s Health Week, we put on the following programmes:

Organic Fitness Mindset with Colman Power

Wednesday, 12th June 7.30-8.30pm

Laois Sports Partnership are delighted to provide this 1-hour live online workshop in collaboration with Colman Power. The foods that we eat improve the way that we feel and how much energy we have. That’s why we have teamed up with Colman Power, a qualified nutritionist with an overall wealth of knowledge on the topics of health and exercise. In the first session he will cover the topic of healthy eating to improve our mental health! Colman (MSc Organic Horticulture, Author, Nutritionist, Educator and Personal Trainer) has a wealth of experience, and is full of drive and energy with a passion for health and fitness and organic vegetables!
