“It is important to increase the participation of women in sport. The aim is to encourage women of all ages to get involved in sport at some level. The aim is to have equal participation between males and females in sport”.
During covid-19, it is particularly hard to get involved in sport as it has not been as fluent as it usually would have been due to current covid-19 restrictions.
The aim of this programme is to encourage Mothers/Guardians and Daughters to enjoy physical activity together and to form a bond that may help encourage the increase in participation in sports amongst women of all ages.
The group focused on will be mothers and daughters from all GAA backgrounds. The classes will be tailored towards mothers, guardians, daughters and sisters.
The programme will consist of 1-hour physical activity a week for 4 weeks through zoom. Each 1-hour physical activity session will be different to ensure all participants are having fun and to keep them entertained throughout.
The online 4-week programme will be aimed at both mothers and daughters from GAA backgrounds to get involved in physical activity together. It will be based on fun exercises/activities with incorporating football /camogie skills into the program to ensure we bring the concept of GAA into our sessions.
