Marie is the 2022 County Laois Participant of the Federation of Irish Sport ‘Volunteers in Sport Awards’.
Marie Thompson is a volunteer of Abbeyleix Hockey Club.
She was a founding member of the club in 2005 and has been actively involved ever since in a variety of roles, from coaching to administration.
While teaching the basics of hockey, Marie’s motto is of ‘hockey for all’. She focuses on fostering team spirit and brining everybody along. She has been quietly instrumental in keeping this ethos of inclusion at the forefront of the minds of everyone in the Club.
Marie Thompson is the cornerstone of Abbeyleix Hockey Club and is thoroughly deserving of this award for her contribution to hockey in the Midlands. 🏑
