Disability Inclusion Training
ARA APA offer an excellent Disability Inclusion Training course and Community Games recommend that all volunteers do this course.
It is a theory and practical course that covers terminology, barriers to participation, legislation and guidance and an introduction to disability sports and ways of adapting activities to make them inclusive.
This course has been designed for a range of audiences including National Governing Bodies, Coaches, Volunteers, Teachers/SNA, Administrative staff, Leisure Personal and Sports Development Officers.
The course can also have a ‘sport Specific’ focus based on demand.
Disability Awareness in Sport Workshop: This workshop (contact time: 2 hours) is designed to build awareness around people with disabilities participating in sport and physical activity. It is an interactive workshop that covers perceptions, communication and etiquette, understanding disability and inclusion and readiness along with local initiatives for people with disabilities. It will also be a pathway for those who wish to participate in further learning opportunities. These include Disability Inclusion Training, Inclusive Fitness Training, Inclusive Sports Coaching, and other courses offered through the National Training and Education Framework. It also includes opportunities offered by Disability NGBs and others.
