1. Purpose of the Scheme: The broad goal of the Laois Sports Partnership is to increase participation in sport and physical activity among the population of Laois. As part of their programme of activity the Partnership will provide some financial resources to seek to achieve this goal. The central aim in the provision of grants will be the ability of the organisation to generate a long-term return on the monies provided. 2. a. Eligible Sectors: A) Schools B) Youthreach and after-school/homework clubs C) Individual Sports Clubs & Organisations D) Social & Community Groups 2. b. Non Eligible Sectors: A) Private Individuals B) Clubs without a constitution/club rules C) Private Facility Owners D) Statutory Agencies Other non-eligible criteria: Applications will not be considered that qualify for funding under the following grant schemes; 1. Sports Capital Programme 2. Go for Life Grant Programme 3. Local Youth Club Grant 4. Dormant Accounts/Pobal 5. Laois Partnership Other areas of non-eligibility include administration costs such as transport, insurance and miscellaneous operational expenses. Prizes or trophies will not be eligible for funding. The closing date for applications is Friday June 18th and no application will be considered after this date. It is planned to allocate grants in early July. 3. Eligible Grant Categories: 1. School/Youth Activity Programme. Special consideration will be given to schools which link in with local clubs/community groups. Priority will be given to non mainstream activities such as dance, swimming etc with a specific focus on coaching. 2. Coaching – e.g. for club development, leadership/coaching courses etc. Priority will be given to applications from minority sports. 3. Community/Workplace Activity Programmes – The central focus of the programme must be on the adult sedentary (non-active) population. Priority will be given to applications supporting social inclusion with a specific focus on coaching e.g. Community Groups, Social & Community Groups & Sports Clubs. Please note that older adult groups are covered under the Go For Life programme. 4. Social Inclusion Special Projects - where it can be shown that a unique, start up project/event answers the criteria as outlined above. These projects should demonstrate innovation and sustainability. The cost of programme delivery should be specifically outlined. Priority will be given to applications supporting social inclusion and a specific focus on coaching e.g. all eligible groups. 5. General Guidelines: 1. All applications must be forwarded in closed envelopes and be clearly marked “LSP Grants Scheme”. Applications can only be made under one category. Applications will be opened in the presence of the Grants Committee of the Laois Sports Partnership only after the deadline has expired. N.B. Improper completion of an application form may render the application void. Specific focus this year will be on coaching throughout all categories. 2. Evidence of financial needs and proposals for matching resources must be produced. 3. Clubs must have a club constitution/club rules and list their current officers (Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer). Please attach copy to application form. Clubs/organisations must have a representative whom has completed “Code of Ethics Awareness Training” and Disability Awareness Training. 4. Priority will be given to projects which help to combat social exclusion or marginalisation and to groups where some resources are already available. Evidence of innovative partnership arrangements would be advantageous. 5. Special consideration will be given to new groups and successful applicants in previous years may not succeed unless they can show phased sustainability of a programme. 6. Grants will not be paid retrospectively i.e. for past programmes or activities except where these are still running. 7. Evaluation on how the grant was spent will be required to be forwarded to LSP upon completion of project. 8. LSP can from time to time carry out “spot-check” on grants issued
