Sports Leadership Training held in Laois |

This week in St. Mary’s Hall, Portlaoise, Laois Sports Partnership ran a very successful sports leaders workshop with 27 people attending over the course of 2 days. The Sport For All Leader Award is a certified scheme from the Irish Sports Council and is designed to provide trained, knowledgeable and enthuastic community- based leaders, whose aim is to encourage more people to become and remain involved in sport and physical activity. These Sport For All Leaders work in a wide range of locations including local clubs, summer camps and community centres and the activity sessions organised by them will focus on the social and enjoyable aspects of sports participation. Laois Sports Partnership, in conjunction with Laois Co. Council Sport & Leisure Section, also ran a Physical Activity Leader’s Ideas Workshop attended by 19 people. The focus of this workshop was on younger children and the participants were shown a range of games suitable for summer camp and other activities. Laois Sports Partnership places great importance in initiatives of this kind and will continue to offer leadership courses at various times throughout the year.
