The National Coaching Development Programme (NCDP) is a coach-education programme, coordinated by the National Coaching and Training Centre (NCTC), based in the University of Limerick. The NCDP has been designed to allow for the entry of experienced coaches and experienced players/athletes into the coaching system through a process called assimilation. Assimilation means experienced coaches and experienced players/athletes may be accredited to Level 2 or higher within the National Coaching Development Programme based on objective assessment of their previous experience and qualifications. The process runs on a sport specific basis, with the criteria for assimilation being agreed between the relevant NGB and the NCTC. The scheme is designed specifically for assimilating personnel at Level 2 or higher. Agreed assimilation procedures already in place within NGBs for lower levels are not affected by the proposals here. All applications for assimilation to NCDP must be submitted no later than 31st December 2003. If you would like to learn more about this programme or about the NCDP in general click on the link
