BUILDING PATHWAYS IN IRISH SPORT Practical steps for Coaches, Players and Athletes 7th National Forum, University of Limerick 5th – 7th September 2003 The 7th National Forum aimed at coaches and practitioners at local, national and international level is a sporting event not to be missed. This year’s Forum will be based on the Pathway Theme (Long Term Player/Athlete Development) and will include key note addresses from three world class experts Dr. Istvan Balyi, Dr. Craig Sharp and Prof. Dave Collins. In addition, leading Irish practitioners and administrators will provide practical advice for coaches and practitioners working at all stages of the player/athlete pathway in this country. Workshops presenters will include the following: Dr. Istvan Balyi – Expert in Long Term Player/Athlete Development Prof. Dave Collins – Sports Psychologist John O Mahony – Galway football manager Liam Griffin – Former Wexford hurling manager Eamon Harvey – Ulster schools coaching co-ordinator Terry Mc Williams – North Eastern Education Board Dr. Miriam Moore – Clinical Psychologist – Ceifin centre Dr. Marie Murphy – Exercise Physiologist, University of Ulster John Shields – Coaching Director, Irish Schools Athletics Dr. Anne Mac Phail – Physical Education and Sports Science Dept., University of Limerick David Walsh – Sports Journalist of the year Dave Egan – NCTC Exercise Physiologist Sport for Young People Programme (Irish Sports Council) International Athletes NGBs – Fundamental and learn to train activities from key NGBs Regardless of your role in sport, be it coach, athlete, parent, sport scientist, medical, sports development officer, Local Schools Partnership, NGBs, facility managers this forum has something to offer to you and your sport.
